to my world of Photography, I'm Sérgio Morais. Born in 1975 in Setúbal, Portugal, I have my studio in Albufeira, in the Algarve.

The Story

From a very young age, I showed a penchant for visual expression, and later, in school, I chose to pursue the arts. Therefore, artistic expression is something that has been with me for as long as I can remember. As soon as I had the opportunity, I bought a camera and began a journey of discovery that continues to this day.

Initially self-taught, but when things started to get complicated, I attended workshops, courses, and anything I could learn from – I use the word 'learn from' because when I think of all the learning processes that brought me here, the word that comes to mind is 'thirst'! So, I absorbed the work of Joel Santos, Valter Vinagre, Alfredo Cunha, Cartier-Bresson, Robert Capa, Ansel Adams, Gageiro, Andrzej Dragan, and dozens of other brilliant photographers.

I timidly started photographing food, hospitality spaces, and restaurants. At that time, I was fortunate and deserving to have chefs like Ljubomir Stanisic, Joe Best, Giorgio Damásio, and venues like the Sheraton and Pousada de Lisboa from the Pestana Group pass through my lens. Some of my photos were published in Time Out magazine and the Corriere della Sera newspaper.

At the turn of the century, I began working on photography projects for national and international fashion brands, a pivotal phase that provided me with a deeper background in lighting, poses, techniques, and more.

From this point on, Sérgio's work as a photographer started to gain widespread recognition. He was invited to participate as a co-author in the books "Tempo de Identidades VOL II, III, IV," which are available for purchase at Fnac.

At this time, I was invited as a photography teacher/coordinator as part of the Lisbon 2020 program funded by the European Social Fund. Alongside teaching, I joined a collective of audio-visual artists in Lisbon where I collaborated on dozens of projects, primarily in photography and video for musicians.

In the lineup of photos, we can see the singer-songwriter Orlando Santos, the Father of Portuguese Rock Jorge Bruto from the legendary Capitão Fantasma, and lastly, the rapper B-leza.

I then began a photography project titled "Diáspora do povo sem medo," aiming to capture the Ukrainian community residing in Portugal. This project was conducted in our studios in Lisbon, Olaias, as well as in Albufeira and Setúbal.

This body of work was exhibited at IKEA, Mar Shopping Algarve, the municipal gallery João Bailote in Albufeira, the Municipal Gallery Montijo, and the Museu do Traje of São Brás de Alportel.

This project, among other achievements, awarded me the first prize in the photography contest organized by the Historical Archive of the Municipality of Albufeira, under the theme "Images between Cultures." It was also during this year that I was invited to join, as a co-author, the book "5th Empire," alongside legends of photography such as DDiarte, Jackson Carvalho, Luís Lobo Henriques, among others.

In 2023, I had the pleasure of joining the Okean Elzy team for the Help For Ukraine Tour, photographing the international Victoria's Secret model Isabeli Fontana, presenting the Aprilia team at the Moto GP, covering the Motorcycle Rally in Faro for a specialized journal, capturing studio portraits of the famous actor Bogdan Beniuk, and being published in Savage Magazine... in short, it was a year filled with wonderful experiences.

Throughout this entire journey, I have always dedicated myself to wedding, fashion, studio, family, product, and advertising photography. At this point, I can affirm that it was my love for photography that led me to create a brand focused on art, combining traditional photography, creative photojournalism, portraiture, and video.

I have always sought inspiration everywhere - in travels, in the works of Renaissance masters, in books, museums, streets, and every corner of the world. I have come to understand that moments of deep inspiration are rare and often require prior groundwork to manifest.

Today, what I never imagined possible even in my dreams has become a reality. I work with brands such as Aprilia, Moto GP, Iberostar, Auchan, Fidelidade, Sonae-Continente, H3, Allianz, Selva, Del Monte, Grupo Nau, Conrad, Four Seasons, among dozens of others as you can see HERE. I have hundreds of weddings under my belt, hundreds of beach sessions, hundreds of marriage proposals, maternity sessions, and more. What all these experiences have in common is the sparkle in the eyes of those portrayed, as they see themselves through my lens.
